A bit about us...

In the early 1980s, seven missionary families founded IME. They homeschooled their children and got together for certain activities like P.E., graduation, and other programs. This worked well and in 1983, Mark and Debbie Williams moved to Mexico City and spoke with the families to start a Christian school. After Prayer, the families realized this was what the Lord wanted, and they set the opening date to September 1984. The first official director was Peggy Hosken. For Peggy being a Director was... "a position I joyfully held for seven years."

For the first two years, the families met in a Baptiste church house. Soon it was at its capacity for the building and was in need of a new place. So that the payment could be made to buy the new building located in Frigia 102, all of the families donated funds, and finally, the contract was signed in the summer of 1986. The association had to be registered with the government with the name of "Instituto Metropolitano Estrella, A.C.". In January of 1989, IME bought a new building, located in Frigia 58. IME is still held nowadays in the same building.

Statement of faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).

We believe in submitting ourselves to the Bible’s principles as the final authority.

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1, Matt. 28:19, John 10:30).

We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ as personal Savior (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Philosophy of education

IME is an institute designed to provide a quality, affordable Christ-centered education for missionary and pastor’s children, striving to develop the whole person in an environment of community and parental involvement.  IME, as an educational institution, believes that bringing up a child in Christ-likeness is primarily the responsibility and biblical duty of the parent.  Our institute exists, therefore, to assist in that education, without replacing the family’s role.  IME has chosen to follow the United States system of education and, as a result of that decision, uses American English. Our teaching is based on our statement of faith and doctrinal statement, without imposing our own personal opinions.
